Meet local romance author Dr. Monica Cox for an inside look at her captivating novels and the secrets behind her writing process!
Dr. Monica Cox is an Ohio author who pens romance that is grown, passionate, and deeply relatable. Her novels feature brilliant women and complex, swoon-worthy men navigating love, loss, and second chances. She blends sensuality with soul, writing characters who feel like neighbors, friends, and family—people who wrestle with faith, hope, and the messy beauty of life. Her stories remind readers that intimacy can be both fiery and restorative, and that love—however it arrives—has the power to heal.
Alongside her fiction, Monica writes nonfiction rooted in her twenty years as a professor and leader. She draws from real-life experiences to tell narratives of hope and restoration that honor her ancestors and the people who have loved and shaped her. With honesty and courage, she tackles tough topics through an intersectional feminist lens, blending scholarship and storytelling to speak to those who have felt unseen or silenced.
Born in rural southeast Alabama and raised by educators, Monica carries her roots into every word she writes. Whether on the page or in the classroom, her work is an invitation to believe in resilience, embrace vulnerability, and imagine new ways of loving and living.
