Meeting Room ADiscover how simple techniques can transform everyday handwriting into beautiful, personalized works of art.
Join us for a beginner calligraphy class! Have you ever envied those with such lovely handwriting that it looks like a font? Perhaps you simply wish your current handwriting were more aesthetic. Or you may already have pretty penmanship, but desire to up your game so you can confidently hand-letter a custom script for gifts, events, décor, or other cherished items—art that can be proudly circulated and displayed. The art of “modern calligraphy” is more accessible than it looks, and we're here to help beginners learn the simple tools, strokes, and styles that can turn handwritten words into visual art. This workshop will cover basic tips and tricks for crafting lovely letters and words with everyday tools and techniques at your disposal—no fancy fountain pens, messy ink wells, or Gothic lettering knowledge required.
Your instructor, Martha Bove is a full-time college English instructor with a background heavy in poetry and painting. As an appreciator, teacher, and practitioner of words and art (and their convergence in calligraphy), she enjoys crafting custom lettering and design with others and for others.
Adults (18+) only, please.
