Take a trip through history with this educational theatrical production, created and performed by Bright Star Touring Theatre, that traces the evolution and profound impact of Black music in America.

It covers eras from field work songs during slavery and secret messaging hymns of the Underground Railroad to Ragtime, Jazz, R&B, and the spirituals of the Civil Rights Movement. This play follows the compelling story of music's role in Black American history.

Freedom Songs is best appreciated by audiences in grades 3 through adults.
