Join us for the NEA Big Read Kick-off Event to pick up a free book, attend a presentation by Dreams on Horseback, and meet their miniature therapy horses.
The Pickerington Public Library is excited to announce that we have been selected to receive a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read grant! Join us at 4:00 p.m. for the Kick-off to pick up free copies of four titles selected for the program. At 4:30 p.m., attend a presentation by Dreams on Horseback to learn about their equine therapy programs, and at 5:00 p.m. meet their miniature therapy horses!
The grant will support a community reading program focused on Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig, and three companion novels for teens, middle grade, and early readers. The NEA Big Read offers a range of titles that reflect many different voices and ideas, aiming to inspire conversations, artistic responses, and new discoveries and connections in each community. Other Pickerington Library events for this program will take place in March 2024 and focus on the themes of Accessibility, Inclusion, and Disability Advocacy.
